FreeCell is the classic patience card game where skill beats luck. With four free cell storage slots and a full 52-card deck all dealt face-up, almost every deal is solvable — it just takes strategy.
Unlike Klondike Solitaire, FreeCell shows you all 52 cards from the start. There are no hidden surprises — every deal is essentially a puzzle to be solved. Over 99% of all FreeCell deals are winnable with the right moves.
(free cells empty + 1) × 2^(empty columns).Almost. Out of the 32,000 standard deals, only a handful (notably #11982) are proven unsolvable. Our random deals have a similar win rate — over 99.9% are solvable.
A free cell is a temporary holding slot in the top-left of the board. You can place any single card there and move it later to a tableau column or foundation.
The formula (free cells + 1) × 2^(empty columns) tells you how many cards you can move as a group at once. For example, with 2 empty free cells and 1 empty column: (2+1) × 2 = 6 cards.
