How to play Eight Off
- Start with six face-up cards in each of eight columns, and one card in each of four reserve cells.
- Build four foundations from Ace to King in suit. Cards placed there stay there in this version.
- Build columns downward in the same suit. Only Kings can start empty columns.
- Each reserve cell holds one card. Use empty cells to temporarily free cards from the tableau.
- Drag an ordered same-suit group when enough cells are empty to move it card by card: one more card than the number of empty cells.
Tips for winning
Keep several cells empty so you have room to rearrange longer sequences.
Frequently asked questions
Do empty columns increase group capacity?
No. Only Kings can fill them, so smaller cards must use reserve cells.
Can every deal be won?
Deals are randomly shuffled, so a win is not guaranteed. Use undo to explore another approach, restart the same deal, or try a new shuffle.
