Hearts is a classic trick-taking card game where the goal is to avoid taking penalty cards — Hearts and the Queen of Spades. Play against 3 intelligent computer opponents in this free online version.
Pass three cards to an opponent each round, then play tricks. Each Heart scores 1 point and the Queen of Spades scores 13 points. The player with the lowest score when someone reaches 100 points wins. But beware — if you can take all penalty cards, you "Shoot the Moon" and everyone else scores 26 points!
Shooting the Moon means taking all 13 Hearts and the Queen of Spades in a single round. If you succeed, all other players score 26 points instead of you — a powerful reversal strategy.
Each Heart is worth 1 penalty point. The Queen of Spades is worth 13 penalty points. All other cards score zero. The goal is to end the game with the lowest total.
Hearts cannot be led until a Heart has been "broken" — played on a previous trick when a player couldn't follow the lead suit.
At the start of each round, every player passes 3 cards to an opponent. The direction rotates: left, right, across, and then no passing on every 4th round.
