How to Play Mahjong Solitaire
Mahjong Solitaire is a one-player tile-matching puzzle. The goal is simple: remove matching pairs until the layered board is completely clear.
The rules
Select two identical open tiles to remove the pair.
A tile is open when nothing covers it and its left or right side is free.
Flower tiles match any other flower; season tiles match any other season.
Remove every tile from the layout to win.
A useful first move
Prioritize pairs that uncover the most tiles or free long rows. Avoid removing an easy pair if it blocks the only match for another tile.

What makes a tile open?
No other tile can cover it, and at least one long side—left or right—must have no neighboring tile against it.
Is this the same as four-player Mahjong?
No. Mahjong Solitaire borrows the tile set but is a single-player matching puzzle. Traditional Mahjong is a multiplayer game with hands, melds and scoring.
